Malaysia sits in an unusual spot for Indian travellers — its entry rules have shifted more than almost any other destination in recent years, swinging between a paid eVisa, the cheaper eNTRI scheme and, most recently, visa-free entry, currently extended for Indian tourists through 31 December 2026 for a 30-day stay. Whichever route is active on your dates, it is fast to arrange, with processing typically taking three to five working days.
Visa-free through 2026 — but always reconfirmed
Malaysia has extended visa-free entry for Indian tourists through 31 December 2026, allowing a 30-day stay for tourism, business, social visits or transit with no visa application at all. This is the easiest Malaysia has been to enter in years, but as with any visa-free scheme, we reconfirm it is still active on your exact travel dates before you book.
The three routes, explained
The eVisa is the standard tourist e-visa, applied online, typically allowing up to 30 days for tourism, business or social visits. eNTRI — Electronic Travel Registration and Information — is a lighter, cheaper online registration for short tourist stays, usually capped at 15 days on a single entry. And visa-free entry, when active, is the simplest of all, needing no application whatsoever. Because Malaysia updates this policy more often than most countries, we always verify the current rule for your exact travel dates before filing anything — you never need to track it yourself.

Documents, fees and processing
You will need a passport valid for at least six months from travel with a blank page, a recent digital passport photo, confirmed return flight tickets and a hotel booking for your stay; for the eVisa, proof of funds may be requested for some profiles. On fees, eNTRI runs around ₹1,500 all-in (service plus a minimal government fee) with two to three working days' processing; the eVisa is about ₹3,500 all-in with three to five working days' processing; and visa-free entry, when active, carries no visa fee at all. Fees and the active scheme change with policy, so we confirm the current cost before you pay anything.
Pairing Malaysia with Singapore
Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are a short flight or a scenic road trip apart, and a twin-country trip is one of the best-value Southeast Asia holidays from Gujarat — Petronas Towers and Genting Highlands on one side, Sentosa and Marina Bay on the other. Since Singapore requires its own separately filed visa, we sequence both applications so your combined itinerary is ready well before departure.
